Home seems to feel like the most important place these days. Resurfacing after the pandemic meant relearning how to interact, what you liked/enjoyed, and most importantly the best ways to protect your peace.

Home Is Where is an exploration of how our values, beliefs, and routines have shaped the look and feel of our homes and vice versa, and how those things play a part in what gives us the feeling of ‘home’. The project incorporates the core of design thinking: people, place, philosophy, and practice.

This body of work focuses on how a person's home reflects more than personal style, and instead, a way of living. We’ll explore preferences as it relates to materials, texture, and shapes, and how piecing these elements together cultivates a home that tells a story and truly inspires the audience.

MEMORIES OF HOME

MEMENTO GALLERY, CO-CURATED BY JAILYN EASLEY & MEMENTO GALLERY

"Memories of Home", a concept derived from ‘Home Is Where’, is a body of work on drooted in the emotional and materialistic textures of home — whether that’s a physical place, a memory, a ritual, or an inherent feeling. Presented as a part of Atlanta Design Festival 2025, this exhibit explores themes like functionality, utility, migration, nostalgia, chosen family, interior, and the objects that carry memory. It’s intimate, layered, and deeply personal.

The show features forged metalworks, handcrafted furniture, sculpted resin forms, hand tufted and crafted paintings. These works are shaped with both precision and fluidity, yet grounded in an intentional softness that invites intimacy through human touch and emotional resonance.

The two rooms of the gallery are transformed in differing ways to bring this idea to life; one side favoring the organic and the latter leaning more towards a maximalist approach.

While the gallery at large was curated by Jailyn and Madison of Memento Gallery, “The Den” was a special area designed to make home come alive. Curated by Jailyn and James Williams III, this installation was meant to evoke the feeling of home in real time. This vignette explores the essence of home as a multidimensional concept through a curation of objects (design and art) that transcend beyond their domestic function.

THE DEN

What began as a feature of empathetic design pieces from Williams’ design practice turn into a collaborative project.

When Easley invited Williams to co-curate The Den, Williams sought to build upon the warmth of Easley’s curatorial direction by contributing lived artifacts that reflect his eclectic interests and explorations across design, art, and culture. The installation features several objects of sentimental value from Williams’ private collection and most notably, the Shirley v2 and Living Table v2 silhouettes from his interdisciplinary practice.
